One visit to All Saints will confirm that children are an integral part of our life together. They participate fully in every service, and are encouraged to take leadership roles in the church.
We believe that all people are children of God, and therefore, all people are welcome to take communion. This includes children who may not entirely understand what they’re participating in. In the same way that we include children at the Thanksgiving table in our own home, even before they fully understand the meaning of this meal, so we include children at the table in church. However, this is a decision that is left up to the parents’ discretion, and those who want a more formal “first communion” are encouraged to speak to the priest, who will set up classes for that purpose.
In addition to liturgical participation, children also participate in other aspects of church life. They help clean up the grounds, collect food for the needy, and contribute to community service opportunities. We provide children with Christian education, a special youth Sunday service, a middle school youth group, lots of attention, occasional snacks, and love to spare.
